The perverse South American underworld is a well-known den when it comes to foul bands that assault our eardrums with their infamous, clearly defined melodies. The time has come to open the cemetery to receive the bloodied coffins containing the rotting remains of Dissidence, a Colombian band that formed in 2018. "Seven Crosses Impaled" is the title of their debut album, where we can be properly desecrated with eight moldy symphonies reeking of infernal sulfur. Despite Dissidence being a relatively young band, this doesn't stop this damned quartet from asserting themselves in an extreme way with their blasphemous melodies that make up this magnificent album. I suggest all the corpses crawling through the Underground check out and listen to what Dissidence has to offer while you slowly rot in your grave full of bestial worms that slowly devour your corpse. Now let's move on to the interview I had the honor of conducting with the demons of Dissidence, where they will reveal a little more about their evil activities in this filthy underworld.
BLASPHEMIC DEATH METAL FROM THE CEMETERY
C.N. - Hell-o Necro brothers from the depths of the Colombian Underground. Before we begin this damned interview, I'd like to welcome you to the cadaverous underworld on the Cadaveric Noiseletter from Murder Records. To begin this interview, I'd like to ask you to introduce us a little more about Dissidence and tell us how this killer band emerged from the open grave?
D. - Dissidence was born in 2018: a proposal to corrode infamy with classic death metal. In Medellín (Colombia). We began this dark path, improving both our technique and our compositions. The commitment was imminent; the step required us to perfect better instruments, better rehearsal spaces, and some almost self-organized or underground events for the audience already accustomed to the violence of bloodthirsty and frenetic death metal. That's where it all began, where we began to generate expectations and demonstrate what we were willing to do for this extreme genre of death metal and to become a representative band of it.
After two years, we were already at a great moment. We had written most of the cursed compositions and had already participated in several underground events in the city, already hammering out our violent approach. At that moment, we decided to record our first demo to demonstrate the quality of our material. This project was born among close friends with a fervent conviction of the dark and the damned, with the desire to create a solid proposal trapped in the chaos and madness of death metal. We worked for years to develop what is now our first full-length album, Seven Crosses Impaled
C.N. - Dissidence is a relatively recent band formed by four infamous creatures. Could you please introduce us to the filthy demons that ferociously manifest in the crematoriums of the Colombian Underground under Dissidence legion?
D. - The Dissidence legion under the banner of Seven Crosses Impaled was formed as follows:
*Funeral Winter - Vocals and Guitar (Active)
Funeral Winter, the main founder of Dissidence, the voice in charge of dictating the stalking curses driven by Hate, current and main composer of Dissidence, music and lyrics.
*Aeternus Moon - Bass (Active - Aeternus Moon (Bass on Seven Crosses Impaled) The one in charge of dominating the Pulse, marking the axe that acts as a guillotine in every act of violence).
*Beleth - Drums (Beleth, the one in charge of the unstoppable pressure of the storm, a drum that stalks with its hunt and venom).
*Haraldr - Guitar (The rhythmic pressure of injury, the passage of chaos in the fog that infects and corrodes the dominance of Dissidence).
This is the original Dissidence lineup with whom they performed. Seven Crosses Impaled. A lineup that has been in place since the band's inception until this year, 2025. We are currently working with two new, highly experienced members, who are making Dissidence's dark vibe even more dangerous. Aeternus Moon now accompanies us on guitar and backing vocals. This new lineup adds an intense dose of venom, in which the aura unites to consecrate our second studio production.
C.N. - Now, let's talk a little more about the sound that Dissidence presents us, where we can delve into the dark labyrinths of Death Metal and where your old-school influences are clearly evident. How would you define your sound, and which bands have influenced your sound in some way?
D. - We are interested in creating aggressive, devastating, and imposing Death Metal. Our artistic expression is violent, with an aura and presence of darkness. We express the dead side of the soul, embodied in the character who transmits and interprets that wave of coldness. Dissidence's sound is characterized by a dangerous, gloomy atmosphere, sharp and ready to kill. Dense and sharp guitars, heavily influenced by the characteristic tone of old-school death metal, this is the sound that has always characterized us. Demonic vocals and drums like a hammer of judgment. A dense and powerful mix, without neglecting the clarity and sharpness of the project's performances and compositions, where the passages are understandable and immediately immerse you in that total malignancy where only pain and blood shine. Our influence as a band mostly comes from European metal bands. Dissidence was born from death metal influenced by bands like Hypocrisy, Skeletal Remains, Vital Remains, Grave, Entombed, Unleashed, Bloodbath, Cannibal Corpse, Morbid Angel, Asphyx, and Benediction. All these bands and these nuances of the genre were what drove the direction of our songs and productions. As with much of the National Metal scene, there are also a large number of high-level bands and offerings. Currently, these influences are what we listen to in our daily lives and with whom we share every moment amidst the infamy of Dissidence. We're deeply drawn to the style and sound of European Metal, as it embodies a style, sound, composition, ideas, and a projection of our nature. Bands we listen to constantly. In addition to death metal, we also enjoy and are deeply drawn to black metal. Bands like Horna, Sargeist, Pestlegion, Hovmod, Bythos, Mgla, and Kalmankantaja, our personal taste for black metal influences.
C.N. - "Seven Crosses Impaled" is the title of your debut album, which features eight songs brimming with voracious intensity and was recently released on CD by Ancient Sounds of Madness Productions. Could you tell us a little more about this excellent work? What can you tell us about this debut album?
D. - Seven Crosses Impaled is a resume of infamy that absorbs the main and surrounding characteristics of the most extreme death metal genre. A work that solidly showcases our essence, driven by seven years of experience in the genre. We created the basic foundation for all our songs in a general way, then, over the months, like a surgeon who cuts precisely and directly. All the arrangements, variations, details, harmonies, accompaniments, metrics, and tempos were integrated into our musical foundation. We ensured that every Predator who listens to our songs could experience an ecstasy of madness and frenzy. They could go beyond a classic-style riff and completely immerse themselves in a curse and in passages that remain engraved in the unconscious of madness. This debut album underscores our interest in the Elite, in presenting a quality worthy of a Soldier of Hell. We reaffirmed, with its release, the pursuit of the highest quality in the entire panorama surrounding Dissidence. We partnered with the Polish label Ancient Sounds of Madness after finishing the mixing of our album. Making a Storm Loop, we worked to bring our metal album and physical CD to Europe. The label worked with us during the release of "Seven Crosses Impaled," and continues to be distributed in Poland and throughout Europe thanks to ASOM. Seven Crosses Impaled was recorded in the studio of one of the members of Gaias Pendulum. We captured the vocals with a Slate Digital ML-1 microphone directly into an Apollo Twin X audio interface. We recorded the guitars directly into the audio interface, as well as the bass. The drums were recorded using a Tama, and the Sabian XSR cymbals were recorded with a 10-microphone array. The entire recording was done raw directly into the audio interface; we gave the final sound to the instruments in the mix.
We didn't use real amplifiers to capture the sound of any instruments. All the final sound was created in the mixing department, with virtual amplifier emulations. The band and audio engineers worked extensively throughout the production process.
C.N. - Now I'd like to talk and learn a little more about your impure lyrics. Could you tell us what themes are addressed in the message that Dissidence propagates with its apocalyptic symphonies of death?
D. - Dissidence, on this debut album, covers hostile terrain, a complete frenzy of murder, destruction of the sacred, and the destruction of faith. Featuring main themes such as murder, anti-Christianity, violence, chaos, horror, misanthropy, and revenge. Where everything surrenders to darkness. The infamous world of death. Dissidence addresses violence and chaos as the firmament of a principle that never ceases. Overflowing with a fog of anti-Christianity and morbidity, overwhelming faith with pain,
The lyrics communicate that malignant and violent aura, a sense of aggression and ferocity with each passing minute. Each song allows a person to transport their feelings to a world of imminent darkness, where only pain, death, and evil are known. The art of destruction is recreated, the soul of the darkest side. Where life turns to ashes, where the earth begins to spit out a poison that not even a chalice could control. A sound episode where the only alternative is pain. Everything that passes will be killed; everything that looks into the eyes of devotion will be dismembered by the frenzy and ecstasy of madness.
C.N - The Colombian musical underworld is quite rich and from where countless legions emerge within South American Death Metal, so I would like to ask you to tell us your opinion on the current Underground movement in Colombia and which bands you would like to suggest and that we should check out?
D. - In our country, there's a strong connection and brotherhood between bands of both short and long standing. Bands often collaborate with each other in the underground, supporting each other through events, merchandise purchases, and social media. This support is generated between the bands themselves and the city's events. We could categorize Colombia as a place where there's a lot of attention when it comes to metal. Bands of diverse genres, offerings, stagecraft, and overwhelming personalities. Each city has its most representative bands.
First, let's mention our Hell ally Aeternus Moon's band, Rotten Church, a sordid and hellish black thrash. Who is finally presenting their debut album, which will be released on November 15, 2025. A project that promises the most imposing ferocity of extreme metal. Rotten Church: In the extreme nature of my city, Medellín, it is by nature a land of death metal. Giant bands like MASACRE (who have toured countless times around the world and Europe), bands like Vitam et Mortem, bands like Ossuary, Into the Fucking Grave, and Abysmal Hate represent them. For us, the best black metal band from Colombia, Erzebeth, will be at Steelfest in Finland this 2026. Vitam Et Mortem: Followers are always willing to travel between cities, municipalities, and regions to see a metal concert. Furthermore, in general, foreign bands are received with fervent madness, both by the bands themselves and by the fans. Here, the audience and the bands take their responsibility for their music and its ability to overflow with insanity very seriously. Support and closeness are provided for all types of events. Each project has its audience, and they actively support it at all times.
C.N. - We currently live in an era where everything is offensive and where most so-called extreme bands are too concerned with pathetic sentimentality, being nothing more than photocopies of each other, without even being able to defend their ideals, ending up being part of hypocritical herds where there is no true essence, and that has nothing that we can define as pure Extreme Underground? What is your opinion on this shitty modern Underground?
D. - The underground is the direction toward the darkest, most cursed, most violent. Where the main symbol is dedication, devotion to the most extreme side of madness. Apathy is not sought; here there is only hammer, rust, and curse. Metal is there to murder, to destroy the weak, to crush without mercy. Like a stake that pierces the nerves and corrodes sulfuric poison in the marrow. Here the noose is for acquaintances and strangers. Metal must always be cursed, dedicated to its ideal. With a pure soul, and always cold as a storm.
C.N. - Dissidence has been active playing live and spreading the blasphemous chaos of your debut album, so I would like to ask what we can expect from Dissidence's presence on stage?
D. - Dissidence has had great activity on stage. After presenting the wave of Seven Crosses Impaled, Dissidence once again flashes its way to the forefront of live stages. Dissidence hurls anger forward, feeling the latent and withering violence during the seconds we are stalking to steal our souls. Dissidence stands at the forefront to kill. Entering an imminent vision of total malevolence, seeking to pierce the pantheon of anger. Crushing the skull of weakness, Dissidence asks no permission. Dissidence annihilates everything that passes before the flash of eyes that have been given over to evil. You can't wait for a play or an artist's encouragement. Here are the killers who fail to reason when the chill of dissidence begins to freeze. A disease that seeps into the blood and only comes close to kill. Feeding on suffering like the artery that infects the monster of madness.
C.N. - Before finishing this interview I would like to ask you what are your goals and plans for the future of Dissidence?
D. - Dissidence is currently working on its second studio album. We are a band that feels committed to activity, to evolution, to continuing to deliver works to lovers of the most extreme and corrosive death metal. Dissidence is currently preparing to enter the recording studio in a few months. Currently, Dissidence has more than 85% of the compositions for its second studio album, which we will release at the end of 2026.
Before releasing Seven Crosses Impaled, we already had enough material in advance to ensure we remain an active band delivering consistent, high-quality music. We will be releasing a single titled Autopsy Intent ahead of schedule. This is on a new sheet music list, approximately around March of next year. We are working harder than ever to awaken the second wave of the curse as soon as possible with our new studio album.
This new album features 9 songs written 100% by the Dissidence team. Everything has already been composed from start to finish. We're in a more creative stage for this album, incorporating changes such as metrics, rhythms, harmonies, and generally small details. But I can tell you with certainty that Dissidence's second studio album is already 85% complete. (9 songs) This is definitely our main goal. We're hosting several live events to continue the avalanche of Seven Crosses Impaled and also continue bringing everyone together with this signature extreme death metal. We're expanding to more cities in Europe and Colombia, and we have some South American tour schedules, which has drawn a lot of attention to our proposal and requests to work with us. Something we greatly appreciate. For years, we've continued to insist on playing in European countries. Being able to bring Dissidence to European soil, share our music, and secure dates abroad is a media goal for us. We've been insistent on reaching agreements in Europe to perform; it's our most ambitious goal. We won't rest until we're on European stages and crossing borders with our music. The support from Europe has been unwavering, worthy of a special mention in this space. You can definitely expect Dissidence's second studio album in 2026; what we've been working on is beyond words. And I know there's a real impression from Seven Crosses Impaled. I'm sure what will be released next year will stop you from breathing.
C.N. - We have reached the end of this filthy interview, but before finishing I would like to thank you for the time you took to answer this interview with the aim of making Dissidence a little better known. Now I intend to leave this space open so that you can declare anything you find relevant and that has not been addressed in this interview as well as you can thank or tell whoever you want to fuck off.
D. - Thanks from the entire Dissidence legion to the entire cadaveric underworld in Cadaveric Noiseletter on Murder Records. To the fans of Murder Records, and all fans of the extreme genre of death metal. It's an honor for us to cross borders with our music, to generate these brutal alliances, and to do this interview in the underworld of Murder Records.
To Ancient Sound of Madness, the Polish label with whom we have directed this wrath of hell. Who has worked tirelessly for this alliance and to spread Dissidence's cursed infamy to all sectors of the world.
Dissidence is here to stay, to set the pace for an active band dedicated to excellence in death metal. You can stay up to date with news, updates, information, and the development of our material through our social media channels. Seven Crosses Impaled is still available in physical format, which can be purchased by contacting Ancient Sounds of Madness directly.
In the future, we hope to have concert dates for all our European fans.
That is our goal, and we are working towards it. They are an incredible audience. Pure greetings from Dissidence. If you have any suggestions or information, please contact us. We greatly appreciate your interaction and unwavering support of our work. It is always an honor for us.
