In the past 30 years, Southeast Asia has had as energetic and fruitful a DIY punk scene as anywhere in the global north, yet somehow has continued to sit in obscurity in my section of the globe.

A larger discussion of why that is and how that's changing would be too long for a little record description, but I strive to be the kind of person that puts their money where their mouth is, so when I see my friend Adik doing such great work documenting the finest in current Malaysian hardcore, I want to be supportive and help spread the word over here too. Because southeast Asian punk shouldn't be an obscurity here, Malaysian bands like Osmantikos and Suicide Club are world class, too good to go unacknowledged or ignored.

Suicide Club's vinyl debut is 5 tracks of classic USHC style in the timeless Cleveland tradition. Think Nine Shocks Terror: throat-shredding vocals, riffs that perfectly balance between rocking and ripping, high-charge drums. Picture perfect execution, to be filed alongside your Upstab, Puncture Wound, and The Ruiners 7"s. Music for throwing the barstool to get this shit GOIN.

This is my favorite little subsect of traditional American punk, so when I heard the recordings, I immediately told Adik I wanted to chip in on the release and help spread the good word of contemporary Malaysian punk. Punk never stops being so exciting.
