The songs, while accessible and laden with compelling hooks, are intricate and structured, and do a lot more before offering the much-desired dose of primal brutality. The influences too are assimilated very well from various death metal bands - this is no direct Cannibal Corpse or Suffocation clone; it bears elements as most such death metal bands do, but they've attempted to go about creating something delectable and effective in their own way, and to that extent this works well. There's no beating about the bush here - if you're into death metal that's heavy, catchy, and fun but also not completely senseless, Retching will make your day.
